ABOUT US

In August of 1989, Iowa Home Crafters began as David Hade Construction. Soon after, Weldon Abarr joined David and a construction company focused on energy efficiency and premium quality began.

In 2004, with a revelation that there are other impacts of home construction that should be addressed, "five areas of responsible construction" were created. By renewing our focus on energy efficiency and quality work, and also emphasizing healthy living, environmental awareness and thoughtful design, Iowa Home Crafters offers a complete, thoughtful and responsible approach to all its building projects.

Also in 2004, the name of our company was changed from David Hade Construction to Iowa Home Crafters to give respect to the many people who help build our projects. There are many skilled people who are proud to be called a member of the Iowa Home Crafters team. Let us introduce you.

David Hade and Weldon Abarr – Owners

Chad Eells
Chad works in our office handling our book work and estimating. Chad also helps in our woodworking shop and is an accomplished wood carver. That gives us the ability to add unique artistic details to some of our projects. He also is our energy specialist and home tester.

Craig Holden
Craig is our Shop Steward. Craig, a very talented woodworker, creates all our cabinet work, furniture pieces, and mill work. He also keeps our tools and equipment tuned and in top shape as well as operates our solar wood drying kiln.

Joe Carter and Josh Magie
Our crew leaders. Joe and Josh manage our projects in the field. Their advanced skills in all aspects of home construction and their ability to organize a project keep us focused on our five areas of responsible construction.
